------------------------------ + ------------------------------

The   2nd. Royal Welsh held an open day on 16 November 2006, and invited Korean Veterans and members of the Cardiff, Islwyn, Newport, Pontypridd, and Swansea Branches of the Regimental Associations  to commemorate the 1st. Battalion Welch Regiment's tour of duty in the 1951 to 1953 Korea War.

It presented an opportunity for Welch Regiment Veterans of the 1951 to 1953 Korean War to be shown how life is in the Army of today and in particular in the RRW, and to be shown the impressive array of the Armor and weaponry at their disposal, by the Officers and Men of the 2nd. Battalion Royal Welsh at their Barracks at Tidworth.

Major (Retired) Mike Hooley, Assistant
Regimental Secretary The Royal Welsh, acted as Officer in Charge of the visit, assisted by
Mr. Rodney Harrington.

Major (Retired) Norman Salmon, the Intelligence Officer with the 1st. Welch in Korea,
provided an insight to the Royal Welsh, of it's antecedent's part in what has been referred to as the bloodiest operation since World War II
