Craftsman Thomas Henry Davies(REME)possibly known as Taff. I do not know what year he was in Korea, However, He did mention at some stage he was attached to some yank unit. He ended his tour with severe malaria and a possible wound which ended up in a US Hospital. Apparantly he was given a purple heart but when they found out he was British they took it back LOL. On return to UK his mother did not recognise him, mainly from weight loss. I would appreciate anyone who could fill me in on his service out there.

Comments: Message Posted 16th. November 04 'Save The Glorious Glosters'
The Glorious Glosters were awarded, the Presidential Distinguished Unit Citation for their heroic stand at the Imjin Battle, Solma-ri, Korea , April 1951, by the President of the United States, the, highest American award for collective gallantry in battle.

Amalgamated in 1994 with the Duke of Edinburgh’s Royal Regiment the Glosters became ‘The Royal Gloucestershire, Berkshire and Wiltshire Regiment’ [RGBW]. Still recruiting from their traditional shire areas.

This outstanding infantry Regiment is now threatened with amalgamation or disbandment as a result of the U.K. Governments decision to reduce the infantry by four battalions. For no other reason than to save money.
And this coming at a time when there are the greatest demands upon the Infantry since Korea.
If together we are going to eliminate World terrorism, these cuts must not be allowed to happen. If it goes ahead, it would be an act of extreme foolishness and a betrayal of our already overstretched army and those daily putting their lives on the line in Iraq.

Since the 1994 amalgamation the RGBW has demonstrated a standard of excellence equal to any in the infantry and is fully recruited, unlike many other battalions, such an outcome would damage the Army and be incomprehensible to serving officers, soldiers and the wider general public.
A final decision on how the reduction in the infantry will be achieved is expected to be made this month, so urgent action is now needed. In the UK former members and friends of the Regiment(s) are being urged to write in protest now to their local Members of Parliament.

Home and overseas persons wishing to save the Glosters/RGBW from extinction are urged to visit www.glosters.org now to read full the details and sign a prepared letter to the Secretary of State for Defence.

Your help to save this proud Regiment will be much appreciated.

Phil (Dusty) Miller Webmaster at http://www.glosters.org/ United Kingdom

Comments: A U.S Navy veteran and former instructor at the U.S.Naval Academy, I was deeply touched by your web site and your empathy. I also learned today that over 300 British citizens were murdered in this attack. We must unite and wipe these evil enemies off the face of the earth ! Don Atkinson
